Round-the-clock care for a person in need of care means that they can receive 24-hour care in their own home. A caregiver often lives together with the patient in the same house or apartment for two to three months and guarantees intensive and extensive care. The chauffeur service is a supplementary Spitex service that is not covered by statutory health insurance. Drivers will take patients to therapy sessions or physician and hospital appointments.

Very individual. Can be an accompaniment for a cultural occasion or simply a visit to the sick persons home. Usually this is not covered by the health insurance.

If the sick person cannot be left alone, it is ensured that the patient receives care while relatives are absent. As a rule, this service is not covered by statutory health insurance.

Social counseling is a supplementary Spitex service that is not covered by statutory health insurance that informs and advises older people and their relatives concerning financial, legal, and social issues that they may have.

If the patient’s freedom of movement is temporarily or chronically restricted, the patient can benefit and avoid deterioration of their condition if they receive an attendant to help them get around or some other mobilization assistance that is tailored to their needs. Which services are covered by the health insurance provider must be clarified in each individual case.

If you can no longer handle bills or ongoing administrative paperwork in general, a social worker can usually help you to sort it out. This is not a service covered by statutory health insurance.

These are volunteer women and men who visit people who would like company but who do not have a large social network. Visits can be either one-time or on a regular basis. This service is usually free.

The patient can resolve various situations at a round table discussion. It often involves a complex care situation involving Spitex.

This includes the rental of aids (e.g., devices) to treat people with health problems. Health aids include, for example, pull-up bars, cushion bed railings, walking sticks, patient tables, positioning pillows, bedside chairs, walkers, or wheelchairs. The rental costs range from less than one franc to several francs per day, and they are not covered by health insurance.

These exist for various conditions (dementia, Alzheimer's, ALS, MS, and other diseases). It can be very relieving and encouraging to talk to other people who are affected by the same diseases. Many relative caregivers find that the feeling of not being alone gives them additional strength to provide further care for their relative.
